Tracking your overall progress when you work out can get a little difficult and be quite a hassle sometimes. But now the job has become much easier, thanks to my Fitbit Alta HR!

This little wonder strapped onto my wrist may seem slightly inconsequential when it comes to it helping me keep a track of my workouts, but just you wait, this does so much more than just that!

But before I begin to tell you how to get this beauty to work in your favour, you need to first install the Fitbit application onto your smart phone. Once you do that you have to sync your app with your Fitbit Alta HR. Once you have finished the syncing you are good to go!

Since the band has a heart rate monitor, my workouts somehow seem more rewarding. Because of the heart rate monitor I am able to measure my calorie burn during my workouts thus helping me find the best workout intensity that will help me in achieving my fitness goals! You could always compare your resting heart patterns to your activity to help you determine how, in the long run, working out more would be beneficial for your health too.

Since I am such a foodie, I also wanted to see how the food I was eating was having an effect on my health. This too is where the band comes to my rescue! With its food logging and calorie counter functions, it helps me determine how many calories I am eating during one single meal itself. This in turn has helped me a tremendous amount in controlling my dietary intake and has made me stick to eating only healthy foods.

It also records my water intake and helps me keep a track on how many glasses/liters of water I am drinking thus making sure that I stay hydrated throughout the day. Isn’t that great? Sounds like the best workout out buddy doesn’t it?

I know a walk down the beach can be a relaxing thing but thanks to the Fitbit Alta HR, I got to know that the walks can be workout in themselves. With its step and distance counter, while walking down the beach I was able to acknowledge how many steps I had taken and how much distance I had ended up covering. So basically this is one of the few health trackers that you can have even when you are on the go!

Last but not the least, I was able to program my little buddy to remind me to get up and walk after every hour so that I stay active and moving throughout the day. It basically ends up vibrating after every hour of me sitting still and flashes a message “Feed me your steps”, making sure that I remember to get up and do the needful!

The Fitbit Alta HR has definitely proven to be a great workout companion and in a way a digital food diary too! It serves so many purposes whilst being so tiny that it has now left me wondering as to how I had been managing without something like this for so long!
